Positive Reading Experience - 4th Grade
4th grade I moved from my private school to a public school. I am so glad that this changed occurred. I can remember my very first day like it was yesterday when I walked with my mother into the room it was warm and very inviting environment.
In the front left hand corner of the room was a big tree! In the trunk of the tree was a little library with a ladder that took you to the top of the tree. The top of the tree it was completely closed off and you were hidden from the rest of the class; it was filled with colorful bean bags and was a reading room. It was a very special privilege to be chosen to use the reading tree, and this exciting rewarding tree helped me overcome the negative feelings I had towards reading.
The first book I remember reading in the reading tree was, Judy Blume, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. The other book that I read that year and loved was, Thomas Rockwell, How to Eat Fried Worms.
In 4th grade I became and engaged reader.
